Bevan Galbraith is a self-taught instrument maker, specialising in nz native wood ukuleles and other small instruments.
He plays in several ukulele ensembles, not least of which the Big Muffin Serious Band.
Some of the wood used in the construction of Captain Ukuleles is recycled, some has been found in the recesses of old folks’ sheds, and some has been bought from timber merchants. Each ukulele is quite different, depending on what timber is lying around at the time. Certainly each ukulele will have a story to tell about it’s ‘biological origins’, and Bevan is happy to oblige any curious owner as to it’s ancestry.
