This scaled-down version of a traditional double bass has a scale length of 20” (50cm) and an overall length of 37” (92cm).
The strings are ‘Pahoehoe’ polyurethane, as normally seen on the Kala U-Bass. Although acoustically very quiet, it sounds remarkably like a normal double bass when amplified, making use of a piezo sensor beneath the bridge.  As a bass player, I have played for 15 years or so in various bands, using electric and double basses, and this is beautifully easy to play (once you get used to the scale length!).

Currently under development from the CSIF (Captain Small Instrument Factory) is the QuarterBass. It comes as a result of my kneejerk reaction to the effective-but-somewhat-gimmicky Kala U-Bass.
